Besides having an AllStar Link Node at home, I decided I wanted something for on the go. Something I could take with me on the road or to wherever. I started checking groups for the idea and found quite a few people looking for the same thing, but none of them every got anything working, and all of them had the same problem. Finding a reliable, portable, and continuous, uninterruptable power supply.
So I started my research, and ended up designing my own AllStar Node-To-Go. I'm not going to go through the build process as you can visit AllStar Link and view their AllStar Link Manual. It lists everything you need to do to get an AllStar Link Node up and running. My post here is specifically for making your already working node portable.
WiFi Hotspot from your cellular carrier
The hotspot will need to be capable of having a static IP address or you will have to install a VPN on your Raspberry Pi.
Table, laptop, phone or other device for connecting and disconnecting to AllStar Nodes
Connect your Raspberry Pi to your hotspot via WiFi.
Port forward from your hotspot to your Raspberry Pi the following ports.
http port 81
AllStar port 9090
SSH port 222 (my preference)
IAX ports 4560-4590
EchoLink ports 5198-5200 (not needed but I have for future mods)
This is all MY preference and what I came up with for building my Node-To-Go. I can get about 12 hours of talk time out of this setup before having to plug back in and recharge. The way mine is setup, I only have to pull one power cable out of the box and plug it in to recharge all my entire setup.
